Frequently asked questions
- Is MSC therapy the same as HSCT for MS?
- No. HSCT (haematopoietic stem cell transplant) is an aggressive immune-ablation procedure with published trial data in aggressive relapsing MS. The mesenchymal cell infusions offered in Thailand are a different, non-ablative treatment with far weaker evidence. Do not let a clinic blur the two.
- Why do MS quotes vary so much?
- Cell dose, delivery route and program length. A single IV infusion and a ten-day intrathecal program are both marketed as 'stem cell treatment for MS' but differ by a factor of five in price.
- What should be included in the quote?
- Baseline neurological assessment, cell dose in writing with a certificate of analysis, all administration sessions, accommodation if advertised as a package, and at least one structured follow-up.
